Turkmen athletes won 23 medals of various denominations at the first International Tournament Karate WKF UZBEKISTAN OPEN 2024, which concluded in Urgench.
The competition brought together 293 karateka (200 boys and 93 girls) from four countries: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The Uzbek team, as the host of the tournament, was represented by individual clubs.
The Turkmenistan team included 74 athletes, 7 coaches and 10 referees.
Based on the results of all types of programs, our compatriots have 5 gold, 5 silver and 13 bronze medals.
The highest quality awards went to: Aygul Esenova (kata, over 16 years old), Gurbannazar Amandurdyev (kumite, 14-15 years old, up to 52 kg), Nadira Asadova (kumite, 14-15 years old, up to 47 kg), Davut Nazmyradov (kumite, over 18 years old, up to 75 kg) and Ogulsuray Tachdurdyeva (kumite, over 18 years old, up to 55 kg).
Silver medalists were: Islam Annaоrazov (kata, 16-17 years old), Byagul Velieva (kata, over 16 years old), Jora Ovezmyradov (kumite, 14-15 years old, up to 52 kg), Resul Atajanov (kumite, over 18 years old, up to 55 kg). Our karateka won another silver medal in the team kumite.
And bronze medals were awarded to: Davut Saryyev (kata, 14-15 years old), Rustam Rukhanov (kata, over 16 years old), Serdar Jumanov (kumite, 14-15 years old, up to 57 kg), Medine Gulamanova (kumite, 14-15 years old, up to 47 kg), Magtymguly Annaev (kumite, 16-17 years old, up to 55 kg), Gurbannazar Gurbannazarov and Sylapberdi Orazgeldiev (both - kumite, 16-17 years old, up to 76 kg), Anna Karimova (kumite, 16-17 years old, up to 53 kg), Arzuw Seitgulyev (kumite, over 18 years old, up to 55 kg), Bayry Bayryev (kumite, 18 years old, up to 75 kg), Jelal Satlykgulyev (kumite, over 18 years old, over 84 kg), Myahri Bayramgeldieva (kumite, over 18 years old, up to 50 kg) and Selbi Rozibayeva (kumite, over 18 years old, up to 68 kg).
In the final medal standings, the Turkmenistan national team took third place among 13 medal-winning teams, behind the teams of Kashkadarya region (9 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals) and Tashkent region (6 gold, 5 silver and 10 bronze medals).
The Turkmenistan team was prepared for these competitions by the coaching duo of Aidyn Charyev and Igor Rakhimov.
