On the 20th of March, a scientific seminar on the topic «Ways of commercialization of science» was held at the Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. Together with scientists of the Technocentre, current issues of using scientific achievements in a market economy were discussed by their colleagues from the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management.

The speakers who spoke at the seminar devoted their presentations to such topics as: «Scientific foundations for improving entrepreneurial business teams in the digital environment», «Features of attracting investments in the commercialization of scientific initiatives», «Commercialization of innovative developments», «Modern types of e-commerce». During the seminar, the scientific and technological foundations of the sustainable use of land and water resources were also discussed, and the results of research on yuzarlik, widely used in traditional folk medicine, and lycopene, which is a powerful antioxidant, were presented.

Conducting such scientific seminars is aimed at searching, promoting and commercializing promising technologies and scientific developments of Turkmen scientists, attracting investments for their implementation in production, which is the main task of a special unit created within the structure of the Technocentre of the Academy of Sciences - the technology transfer center. Its employees develop a network of professional contacts with the involvement of representatives of all interested parties in the work of the center, both to search for innovative business ideas and to develop commercial projects.

The Technology Transfer Centre preliminarily determines the commercial potential of scientific developments, calculates the final results of their implementation in production, and on this basis prepares proposals, business plans, and feasibility studies. The centre’s tasks also include conducting marketing research on the market for innovative technologies and forming a portfolio of technological requests and projects, scientific developments and engineering solutions in accordance with specific business needs.
