A few days of summer remain until September 1, but the mood of the new school year is already in the air among children and students. The sixth exhibition hall of the State Museum of Fine Arts hosts an exhibition of paintings and sculptures dedicated to Knowledge Day.
The museum's storerooms contain paintings on the theme of Knowledge Day, which are essential for exploring this topic through art. Year after year, they leave their permanent homes and move to the exhibition hall to meet viewers once again. These include, of course, works like "September 1" by Evgenia Adamova and "Book Bazaar" by Izzat Gylyjov. The painting "September 1" conveys a psychological narrative about the emotions experienced by all family members as they prepare a first-grader for school: the admiration of the younger brother, the jealousy of the little sister, the pride of the mother, and the curiosity of the neighbor. The first-grader herself is in a slightly haughty mood—after all, she is now a student.
The painting "Book Bazaar" by Izzat Gylyjov, filled with bright sunlight, is a masterpiece that is especially dear and understandable to the residents of the capital. Ashgabat has finally recovered from the earthquake's aftermath. People were drawn to knowledge, which at that time was found only in books. The People’s Artist managed to accurately convey the spirit of that time: the architecture of the city center, the behavior of people, and clothing corresponding to the fashion of that period.
"In the Workshop of Saragt Babaev" by artist Babageldi Ovganov depicts the moment of discussing a trial sculpture of Oguz Han by creative youth with the People’s Artist.
The exhibition of works by Turkmen artists was supplemented with paintings from the museum's gift fund. The exhibition also included works by Armenian artists, mainly still lifes with flower bouquets, which on September 1 become a traditional gift for school and university teachers.
Two still lifes by Martiros Saryan are a colorful story about the delicious gifts of nature prepared for September.
Representatives of the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen State Institute of Culture participated in the exhibition's grand opening. Once again, the exhibition brought positive emotions to the viewers.
